Adriana Lima is the longest-serving Victoria’s Secret Angel of all time. She signed her contract in 2000, only a year after her debut on the VS runway. Since then, she has opened the show five times and worn the Fantasy Bra three times, in 2008, 2010 and 2014.

Born in Salvador, Brazil, Lima started modelling in her early teens, after winning the Ford agency’s Supermodel of Brazil contest aged 15. She then moved to New York and signed with Elite Model Management, walking for Anna Sui and Philosophy as early as 1998.

Since then, the Brazilian supermodel has added a long list of names to her catwalk portfolio including Alexander McQueen, Balmain, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and Calvin Klein, in addition to advertising contracts with Maybelline, Sportmax, Marc Jacobs and IWC Watches. In 2016, she was the second highest-paid model in the world, according to Forbes. She is currently the most social Angel, with 20.5 million followers across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Lima has walked every Victoria’s Secret show since 1999, with the exception of 2009, because of her first pregnancy. In 2012, she wore her Angel wings only five weeks after giving birth to her second daughter. 

What’s Adriana Lima’s workout regime?

She credits her figure to boxing—her favourite workout since the age of 19—which she supplements with daily rope-skipping sessions in preparation for the annual VS show. Her only vice? Chocolate molten cake.

Lima is planning to be an Angel “as long as gravity lets [her].”
